Boxhamsters

I am probably driving a few people away with this expression of what kind of music I like. But who cares. I listen to the Boxhamsters now for over 15 years. So I decided to go to a concert. The first one in 2005 in a location well known for good music: "Stone im Ratinger Hof" in Düsseldorf. And even cheap, compared what you usually hear about concert prices. Only EUR 9,80 including all fees. I asked a friend living near the border to the netherlands if he wanted to come too and he did.

The location looks very nice at first. There are bars and pubs in that older city area where the "Ratinger Hof" is located. A small crowd was waiting to be let into a quite small club. After escaping a flying bottle we squeezed ourself into the club which quickly filled with people of all kind. If you think punk rock is for punkers you should have seen this. Of course a few fans looked a little like punks with colorful hair but the majority looked just like us. Most had black clothes and short hair and no special features. You would not believe theiy would be doing a pogo down in front of the stage.

To be honest: It was a great little concert. Nothing can match a small club with lots of people having fun. I would recommend steel capped shoes for the pogo though. We stayed out of that part of the club. First a support band called "vorsicht schreie" warmed up the crowd. They were so loud you could feel every string strike moving every single hair on your body. The bass produced so much acoustic pressure that my jacket produced a life ot its own. I did not understand a word, except one guy calling "Selbstmord" all the time. The Boxhamsters played well known (at least to me) songs from their albums.

I think I am going to do it again. I just fear that I won't be able to hear anymore after a few such acts …
