A Lost Battlestar Carol

BSG I've done it before and now I seem to do it again. Watching a scifi space series. This time its Battlestar Galactica, the remake. It got overall good comments. That's why I decided watch it. However, in contrast to Farscape I could also watch >>Lost for the psycho stuff they try to play on or simply dig out a copy of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol".
  • It's a "reboot" of an old story
  • It's a soap on board of a space ship
  • It's built on aged ideas of other soaps or movies
Apart from that the writers didn't seem to think as far as their nose. The technology implications are sometimes even more stupid than what we see on most Star Trek episodes. While they have faster than light travel abilities and had been able to create intelligent robots they still
  • shoot with limited ammo (bullets)
  • use meager 50 megaton nuclear bombs
  • (they explained why they use wired technology) have radio communication as bad as in the early 30's here on earth
If you look at it from a funny side it's a nice entertaining series. But what bothers me most is how very stupid most of the characters act. A reason why I usually can't watch these "funny" family movies anymore.
