The Red Sea Foundation
After the first workshop on WikiSpam the program committee got together to drive to the "Red Sea" restaurant. We had some excellent ethiopian food there. To be eaten by hand using a special kind of bread. After splitting the bill we used the money left over to start the
Red Sea Foundation. A place to advocate wikis.
Today I just finished my session with three interesting talks about
wiki usability, combining
wiki and mailing lists as well as a talk on
work process management for and with wikis.
I do see a need for an independent place to discuss wiki issues and to form a general community of wiki builders and users. I don't think it can be WikiMania as its focus is so mich on WikiPedia which in turn is a very specialized kind of wiki. No questions, its a great example of how to use a wiki, but the usage patterns as well as its users differ a lot from what wikis in other areas, like company intranets.
